Rise in naxal activities in Sidhi
Bhopal, July 19: Expressing serious concern over the rise of naxalite activities in Madhya Pradesh, the state government today told the legislative assembly that the Centre's help has been sought to tackle the menace.
Replying to supplementary during question hour, Minister of State for Home Nagendra Singh admitted that naxalite activities had increased in four police station areas in Sidhi district in the past two years.
In view of the naxalite activities, the government has taken necessary steps, besides, demanding a package from the Centre as help.
Congress legislator and former minister Ajay Singh said security arrangements were not adequate in tribal-dominated Sidhi, although development works worth crores of rupees were sanctioned for the district.
The Minister said a company of Special Task Force personnel had been deployed in Sidhi and deployment of additional forces would be considered.
Balaghat, Mandala and Dindori are naxal-affected districts in Madhya Pradesh. Recently, naxalite incidents came to light in Sidhi as well.
