Maoists kill Constable; Home Guard escapes

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, July 19 (UNI) The Maoists shot dead a police constable in Remidicharla village of Bollapalli mandal in Guntur district last evening, while a home guard accompanying him escaped from the scene unhurt.

According to police, the constable Sadique working in the Bollapalli police station was serving summons in different villages along with the home guard Gangi Reddy. When they were returning, three Maoists opened fire on them.

Even as the constable and the naxalites abandoned their vehicle and were fleeing the scene, police said the ultras opened four rounds of fire on them. While the constable died on the spot, the home guard managed to escape unhurt from the scene.
