LF demands thorough probe

Kolkata, July 19 (UNI) The Left Front today demanded that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance(UPA) government at the Centre should order a thorough probe whether the Mumbai blasts had any connection with the incident of alleged desecration of the statue of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackre's wife at Bhiwandi.

Addressing a rally here in protest against the price hike, Mr Bose said the Centre was investigating the Mumbai blast case but the Bhiwandi incident happened before the blasts and so it was necessary to probe whether the incidents, which took place back-to-back, had any connection.

He also urged the people to be united against such incidents.

'' We are supporting the UPA government from outside on the basis of Common Minimum Programme(CMP), but the Centre has failed to check the price hike in the country, '' the Front chairman said.

The Front partners could not remain mute spectators and decided that all the Front MPs would stage protest in Parliament on July 25.

He also said the BPL list contained several mistakes and needed drastic change.
