Industrial advancement imperative for economic affluence: Baig

Jammu, July 19 (UNI) Demanding a special package from the Union Government for the creation of an exclusive zone, Jammu and Kashmir deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig said industrial advancement and agriculture gains would be imperative for the economic affluence yardstick in the future.

While speaking at a function organised by Bari-Brahamana Industrial Association here today, Deputy Chief Minister said a study of prosperity and economic of all the major powers world wide have beyond any doubt, established that only those countries that have a strong industrial base and relation, flourish.

Pointing to an industrial survey that assesses India as industrial power by 2020, he said the country is already moving fast towards industrial advancement with Jammu and Kashmir emerging as an industrial growth centre.

Mr Baig said the opening of Indo-Pak trade route in the state has offered bright vistas of opportunity to the industry and business here. Jammu is going to be a major benefactor of this trade route as most of the trade activity would be carried through the winter capital, he added.

Listing out the priorities for the economic and industrial advancement the deputy Chief Minister said peace is a sine qua non for industrial prosperity, as prosperity does not happen without peace.

Condemning strongly the recent blast in Kashmir and Mumbai in which several tourists were killed, he said terror mongers are not only the enemies of peace, but such acts of destruction point to their utter frustration and aggravation.
