HP High Court reserves judgment in HPCPMT case
Shimla, Jul 19 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court today reserved its judgment in the H.P. Combined Pre-Medical Test (HPCPMT) after hearing arguments of the counsel for the selected and the aggrieved candidates.
The court reserved its judgment after hearing the arguments, which mainly revolved around the inquiry committee report that had earlier pointed towards irregularities in the CPMT entrance paper.
The counsel for the selected candidates rejected the inquiry report, saying that lack of rough work, average academic record and other factors pertaining to the selected candidates in no way proved that the paper had been leaked.
Simply because the candidates were concentrating on competitive examination and could not score well in their qualifying examination, it could not be assumed that the paper had been leaked, he argued.
The counsel for the Action Committee of the Aggrieved Students and Parents argued that the findings of the report had proved beyond doubt that the paper had been leaked.
The inquiry report clearly warranted the cancellation of the test and a re-examination, he argued.
The H P University, which conducted the test, had been maintaining that every thing was fair in the conduct of entrance test, saying that the paper had not been leaked as alleged by the action committee.
