Haryana to set up nano technology city in Panchkula

Chandigarh, July 19 (UNI) The Haryana government plans to set up a nano technology city at Panchkula to promote future technologies.

''The government is actively pursuing the setting up of a nano technology city at Panchkula,'' Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said today at a meeting here to review the functioning of Industries and Commerce Department.

It was observed in the meeting that the setting up of food processing industry was also being encouraged through creation of a bio-technology park.

Besides, it was decided during the meeting that an Udyog Bhawan would be built at Panchkula to house the offices of Departments of Industries and Commerce, Mines and Geology and Supplies and Disposal.

The Chief Minister said the state government had also taken a positive step to convert its economy into a knowledge-based economy which has vast potential for the next generation in the country.

Among others present in the meeting were Industries Minister Lachhman Dass Arora, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister M L Tayal, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Industries) P K Chaudhary, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIDC) Managing Director Rajiv Arora.
