FM sanctions ex-gratia relief to CBEC Inspectors

New Delhi, July 19 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram today sanctioned an ex-gratia payment of Rs five lakh to the families of the two Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) Inspectors who died in the Mumbai blasts on July 11.

The deceased are Shashi Shekhar and and Sanjay Samant. They were Inspectors of Thane- 11 Central Excise Commissioners.

The CBEC offered its sincere condolences to the bereaved families.

Eleven other officers and employees of the CBEC were also injured.

The Finance Ministry said all medical expenses in connection with their treatment will be borne by the Government.

Two Superintendents who suffered permanent disability have been given ex-gratia payment of Rs one lakh each. The remaining injured have been given Rs 25,000 each.
