Five killed in blast in explosives unit

Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh, July 19 (UNI) Five persons were killed in a major blast in an explosives manufacturing unit near Peddakaparthy village in this district late last night.

According to police, the blast occurred in the spinning room of the explosive factory, where workers were preparing detonation fuse.

Nalgonda SP M M Bhagawat visited the site.

Mr Bhagawat said the roof of the building caved in due to the impact of the blast, trapping the workers.

A fire also broke out after the explosion, which was put off by fire brigade officials While four persons were believed to have died in the blast last night, one more body was retrieved this morning from the rubble, taking the toll to five.
