Dubai-based gangster on red corner notice arrested from IGI airport
New Delhi, July 19 (UNI) In a prized catch Police have arrested a pointsman of the Dubai-based Aftab Ayub gang from the Indira Gandhi International Airport who was here on a 'kidnap-for-ransom' mission.
Nitin Modha, who belonged to the gang of Aftab Alam Ayub -- which split from 'Dawood Company' some years back and was based in Dubai, was arrested on July 13, two days after the serial blasts in Mumbai, according to a senior police official.
''He was carrying a forged passport which he had procured from Hyderabad.'' The gangster was arrested after Red Corner notices against the gang's members -- Aftab alias Vicky and Syed Abid Hussain alias Ali Bhai -- were issued following the killing of a Poona businessman Sagar Satender Sahni last year, in which Rs two crore ransom had been demanded.
Sahni's body, with severed head, was later found in the jungles of Gujarat. Ever since the gang had been on the police radar.
His interrogation revealed that Modha had arrived in Delhi to execute the kidnapping of a businessman to extract ransom on the orders of Aftab.
