Decks cleared for ODIs in Guwahati
Guwahati, Jul 19 (UNI) Guwahati has been cleared for staging ODIs in the future after the April debacle of the India-England raised doubts regarding the approval of the venue for international matches.
This was disclosed by General Secretary of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Bikash Barua, quoting an International Cricket Council (ICC) letter.
Mr Barua said the ICC had advised that stringent steps be taken in respect of security if Guwahati is allotted international matches in the future.
The ICC had also advised the ACA regarding the passage of exit and entry points.
Mr Barua said the ICC letter said if the association failed to implement the directions, it could land in trouble in future.
The India-England ODI was washed away on April 9 last. However, crowd disruption when the marct was formally announced abandoned had put into jeopardy Guwahati's status as an international venue.
