Couple united in death too

Tiruchirapalli, July 19 (UNI) In a heart-rending incident, an elderly couple 'coalesce' in life, were undivided in death too, at Thuraiyur in Tiruchirapalli district of Tamil Nadu yesterday.

A 60-year-old lorry driver Periyasamy Chettiar of Vadakku Street in Thuraiyur fell ill and was admitted to the Government Hospital at Pondhcerry, a few days ago.

Periyasamy, however, died on July 17 and his body was taken to his ancestral home yesterday for burial. An unconsolable Manickam Ammal(54), wife of Periyasamy Chettiar fell unconscious on the body of her beloved husband, hours before the body was taken for burial.

She was rushed to a private hospial, were the doctor declared her brought dead.

The body of Manickam was brought to the home and kept near her husband's body for homage. They were buried later.

The couple is surived by two sons and a daughter.
