Coal production up in June at 29.67 mt

New Delhi, July 19 (UNI) Public sector Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), a joint undertaking of the Government of India and Andhra Pradesh Government, posted a 10.54 per cent growth in coal production during June 2006 estimated at 29.67 million tonnes (mt) against 26.84 mt during the same month last year.

The target set for the two companies for last month was 30.03 mt. During the month, CIL and SCCL despatched 22.9 mt coal to the power sector.

Altogether, 2.05 mt of coal was allocated for e-marketing conducted in all the coal producing companies of CIL in June 2006.

Out of 1,696 participating bidders, 1,469 were successful.

The average gain over the average notified price was 26.20 per cent and that of floor price was 5.2 per cent.
