Centre clears Indira Sagar Lift Irrigation Project

New Delhi, July 19 (UNI) The Ministry of Environment and Forests has accorded environmental clearance to Indira Sagar Lift Irrigation Project.

Andhra Pradesh Special Representative Ravi Mallu told newspersons here that the project seeking to pump 16.50 TMC of Godavari water from the foreshore of Polavaram (Indira Sagar) Project has been cleared.

The Rs 1824 crore project is expected to irrigate 200,000 acres in Khammam, Krishna and West Godavari districts on completion.

Total land requirement for this project is 4400 acres including 584 acres is forestland and involves no displacement of human population. The project had secured site clearance in May this year.
