Birla Sun Life eases claim settlement for Mumbai Blast victims

Mumbai, July 19 (UNI) To speed up the claims process in the aftermath of the recent Mumbai blast, Birla Sun Life Insurance (BSLI), has eased the normal claims requirements for a speedy settlement of claims.

Birla Sun Life Insurance's COO Mario Braganza said that the company requires only simple documents to enable swift and easier processing of claims from Mumbai Blast claimants - 'A written intimation of claimant's statement' and a 'death certificate' issued by the Municipal authorities or the designated District officials of the State Government or Railway Police authorities or hospital authorities.

He said the company is foregoing with the requirements for a First Information Report (FIR), Post Mortem Report, Panchnama and the Police Investigation Report which is required otherwise in normal accidental claim settlement process in view of hardship the family members of the victim goes through in such a dastardly act.

As of now BSLI has already settled the two claims that it has received so far of blast victims for an amount of Rs 16.5 Lakh waiving the investigation requirements as well.
