Bandits loot booty worth Rs 15 lakh in MP capital

Bhopal, July 19 (UNI) About six dozen armed masked dacoits stormed into a house early today and looted cash, jewellery and other items worth Rs 15 lakh in posh Idgah hills colony in the state capital, police said.

The bandits barged into builder and cinema-house owner Gopichand Moolchandani's house and forced the women to strip off their jewellery and open the locker. Besides Rs 33,000, jewellery, cameras and other items were looted.

The hands and feet of Mr Gopichand and his son were tied. Four members were present in the home at the time of the robbery.

Superintendent of Police Anant Kumar Singh said it appeared that the incident was carried out in a professional manner.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma raised the issue during the zero hour and said incidents like dacoity, loot and murder were on rise in the state capital.

Six truck drivers were beaten and Rs 15,000 looted from them two days back. Unidentified dacoits looted Rs 35,000 from a former IAS officer's house recently.
