36 kg heroin seized in Ludhiana
Ludhiana, July 19 (UNI) In a biggest seizure in the recent past, the authorities today seized 36 kg heroin worth Rs 36 crore in the international market from a truck here this morning.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), who carried out the raid at a checkpoint in the city, has arrested one person with the contraband. The identity of the accused, arrested under the NDPS Act, was yet to be diclosed.
Today's was the biggest seizure of the drug in the north in the recent past. The authorities had seized seven kg heroin at the Amritsar airport and another three kg from a well in Ferozepur on July 15.
Earlier this month, the Narcotics Control Bureau had seized four kg of heroin from an NRI Canadian woman near Chandigarh. The woman was on her way to the Delhi airport to board a flight to Canada.
