3 get 7 yrs RI for life bid of Dr. Maongwati

Kohima, Jul 19 (UNI) In a significant judgement the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Judicial), Dimapur, has sentenced three accused to seven years' rigorous imprisonment after finding them guilty of attempting to kill Dr Maongwati at Dimapur Civil Hospital premises in May 2004.

In an order the ADC(J), Dimapur Mayang Lima said in absence of sufficient evidence against two other accused, the court had given them the benefit of doubt and acquitted them from criminal liabilities.

The trial in respect of the absconding accused will resume on execution of the warrant of arrest by the Superintendent of Police.

Dr Maongwati, a popular physician of Dimapur town, is still under treatment for his paralyzed lower portion of his body.
