Tension in Hubli

Hubli, July 18 (UNI) Tension prevailed for some time in Gokul road area here when Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists mistook the Hubli-Dharwad City Municipal Corporation's (HDMC) operation of catching stray cattle in the city.

The trouble started when two VHP activists objected to the way the operation was carried out by HDMC personnel and one of the personnel assaulted the activists. Other VHP activists rushed to the rescue of their counterparts in large numbers.

However, timely intervention by the police eased the situation.
