Teachers to go on token strike on Aug 21
Kozhikode, July 18 (UNI) As many as 8,000 higher secondary school teachers in Kerala would go on a token strike on August 17 to press their oustanding demands, including modification of revised pay scale.
In a statement here today, Federation of Higher Secondary Teachers Association (FHSTA) chirman Joshy Antony said the teachers would also observe July 21 as "HS teachers' privilege day." He said higher secondary teachers appointed after 1999 would have to forego increment, service weightage and grade benefits resulting in a total loss of Rs 1,500 per month if the revised scale was implemented without modification.
The other demands were regularisation of government teachers appointed between 1990 an 1998, upgradation of teachers who have completed five years and declaration of government teachers probation.
