Shiv Sena members stay away from Assembly
Mumbai,July 18 (UNI) Shiv Sena members in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today stayed away from the proceedings protesting against Leader of Opposition Ramdas Kadam for not being allowed to speak.
Mr Kadam ,through a point of propriety brought to the notice of the House that private hospitals have been demanding money from blasts injured. He said the government should look into the matter.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Harshvardhan Patil, who was present in the House, said that a special officer would be appointed to look into the treatment being given to injured and the government has already made it clear that it would bear the cost of treatment.
Later, Mr Kadam raised the issue of problems faced by students in admissions to first year junior colleges and Mr Kupekar said he was not taking point of propriety and called for next business on the day's agenda. Mr Kadam took offence and said he was not being allowed to speak.
All the Shiv Sena members walked out of the House and did not return. BJP members, however, took part in the day's proceedings.
The Sena members later moved to the Speaker's chambers in a meeting with Mr Kupekar trying to resolve the issue.
