Sachin declared fit for Lanka tri-series
New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) Sachin Tendulkar was today declared fit for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka after a five-day fitness test under the supervision of physio John Gloster.
''Sachin Tendulkar has been undergoing graded physical testing of his right shoulder for the last five days under the supervision of BCCI physio Mr John Gloster and has made satisfactory progress to make him available for selection for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka,'' BCCI secratery Niranjan Shah said today.
The little master had also expressed his desire of making comeback soon after his return following a six-week stint with Lashings Celebrity XI in England.
The tri-series is scheduled for next month and also features South Africa.
Sachin underwent surgery on his right shoulder in London in March which was followed by a rehabilitation programme aimed at strengthening the operated arm.
The Mumbai batsman then left for a stint with the Lashings. He also played in a charity Twenty20 match for an International XI team -- led by Team India skipper Rahul Dravid -- against Pakistan to raise funds for the victims of last year's earthquake in the sub-continent.
The BCCI said Sachin's fitness was assessed by his surgeon Dr Andrew Wallace before the charity match who was satisfied with the progress.
''His final physical assessment from his surgeon in London prior to his participation in the 20-20 match was very satisfactory,'' the statement said.
