Indefinite strike affects court cases
Jammu, Jul 18: Work in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and other lower courts was paralysed as the lawyers' indefinite strike, demanding shifting of sex scandal case outside Srinagar, entered 21st day today.
The judicial works remained totally paralaysed as no lawyer attended the courts, creating a major problem for the common people, High Court sources told sources.
''More than 3,600 cases have been affected during the strike period which began on June 28,'' sources added.
Meanwhile, the lawyers here would continue with their indefinite strike in support of their demand of transferring the sex scam case outside Srinagar for fair and impartial trial.
''We have decided not to attend the courts till the case of sex scandal is transferred to any other place outside Kashmir,'' said Mr Ved Raj Wazir, president of Bar Association Jammu (BAJ).
Bar associations of Hiranagr, R S Pura, Reasi, Akhnoor, Billawar, Samba, Baderwah, Kathua and Udhampur have also been on the strike.
