Order on Sujata Rajan's bail plea on July 26
Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Judge, Abhay Thipsay would pronounce the judgement in the Sujata Rajan bail plea on July 26.
The special court judge today completed the hearing and said the order would be given on July 26.
Earlier, last month, Sujata Rajan had filed bail applications on the basis of merit. Her counsel had prayed that investigations on most charges have been completed and there was no need for further custody and, hence, she be released on bail.
Sujata, wife of gangster Chota Rajan, was arrested by the police last November for allegedly trying to extort Rs 18 lakh from a builder at Chembur and for possesion of unaccounted wealth.
She was charged under MCOCA Act after the police recorded conversations between her and Chota Rajan on matters pertaining to extortion and other havala transactions.
