One arrested at NSCBI airport for tampering with passport

Kolkata, July 18 (UNI) Emigration authorities at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport detained an Indian passport holder Mohammed Rabbani, a resident of Khiderpore here for tampering with his passport.

Officials told UNI that Rabbani was tryuing to board Bangladesh flight ''Biman'' to Dhaka en route to Hong Kong.

An examination of his passport revealed that he had erased the date stamp indicating the clearance given by the Protector of the Emigration (POE) Authorities here for taking up work abroad.

Rabbani had originally booked a ticket for travel on July 9 for which he had obtained POE clearance on July 8.

But he cancelled his journey on July 9 and instead was flying out yesterday after erasing the date stamp of the POE.

It was stated that he should have obtained fresh clearance before embarking on the journey anew.

Rabbani was today handed over to police.
