Norway gives $80 million for immunisation, child health care
New Delhi, Jul 18 (UNI) The Norwegian Governemnt has provided 80 million dollars grant to India to fund immunisation for child and maternal health under the National Rural Health Mission.
The multi-partner initiative is aimed at accelerating progress towards Millennium Development Goals under NRHM. The initiative would focus on five states with highest number of child deaths--Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Orissa.
It would involve multiple partners including the UNICEF and WHO in support of state governments.
The partnership is the outcome of discussions on bilateral cooperation between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Norwegian counterpart Jens stoltenberg here in December last year.
