Muslim organisation announced compensation for blast victims
Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) New Delhi-based 'Markazi Darul Iftah Al Islami' has announced compensations for the Mumbai blasts affected families here today.
Markazi Darul Iftah Al Islami is an Islamic body consisting mainly of clergy members. Headquartered in New Delhi, it is widely known as the 'Islamic Fatwa Centre' among its followers.
Speaking to reporters, Qari Hakeem Asjad Nafis Al Hashmi, President of the body deplored the blasts as a serious blot to humanity and announced Rs one lakh to next of kin of the deceased persons and Rs 25,000 for the seriously injured.
He advocated the need for harmony and brotherhood in times of crisis and said,''the only way to defeat anti-national forces is peace and unity'' in the country by its rich diverse community.
M S Khan, General Secretary of the body said that the compensation would be distributed through cheques either by the Governor or the Chief Minister of the state.
For that, representatives of the organisation had already met the Chief Minister and apprised him of the organisation's intention and decision, Mr Khan said.
Endorsing Mr Hashmi's opinion on brotherhood, Mr Khan lamented that leaders like Narendra Modi and others holding important and responsible positions in the country should divest from making inflamatory statements during national tragedies.
When quipped about the source of funding, Mr Khan answered that Muslims from India and abroad had whole heartedly contributed for the noble cause.
