Local trains in Mumbai pay homage to blast victims
Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) More than one thousand local trains on Western, Central and Harbour lines along with hundreds of outbound trains were brought to a halt three minutes before 1824 hours to pay the homage, led by President A P J Abdul Kalam at Mahim Railway Station, in memory of the victims of the 7/11 blasts.
Western Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer Pranay Prabakar confirmed this to UNI and said there were no reports of any untoward incidents during this period.
On July 11, the ever crowded Western Suburban lines were hit by a series of bomb blasts in which more than 200 people were killed and 700 injured.
The suburban railways considered to be the lifeline of the megapolis transports more than 65 lakh commuters every day to various parts of the city and its suburbs.
