Helping Global Businesses Size Each Other Up

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) Indian consultants Kochhar Group and America's renowned Pinkerton Consulting and Investigations Inc got together today to change the way businesses across the seas size each other up.

''This joint venture is set to revolutionise the investigation services industry in India,'' group Chairman Rohit Kochhar told a news conference also addressed by Pinkerton President Jack D Donohue.

''I am proud to announce the opening of Pinkerton India and am highly confident about its success,'' Donohue told journalists, citing opportunity everytime a business in India or outside wants to know who they do business with.

The Pinkerton-Kochhar venture will incorporate a 51:49 equity partnership, an announcement said.

The New Jersey-based Pinkerton, a wholly owned subsidiary of Securitas, also has presence in China, Brazil, Mexico, England, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and Taiwan.

A world leader in security and allied services, Securitas has revenues exceeding 7.5 billion dollars.

The partnership will for the first time provide businesses easy access to highly sophisticated and technologically advanced investigation services of global standards, the announcement said.

The venture spokesmen stressed professionalism, quality of service and client satisfaction they intend to bring such pursuits in India.

Fraud and related business abuses are estimated to cost US organisations more than 0 billion annually, which many firms seek to counter with the help of services offered by investigators such as Pinkerton to uncover illicit activities.

These could involve such varied abuses as kick-backs, accounting violations, product liability claims, expert testimony, evidentiary chain of custody, witness location, background checking and credential checks.

Pinkerton says it has expertise in investigating financial matters and fraud and unearthing facts and presenting them in a manner that is comprehensive, documented and useable.

Pinkerton also provides litigation support, but a Kochhar Group spokesman made it clear there was no violation of norms against foreign lawyers practising in India.
