HC stays proceedings against Capt. Krishnan Nair
Kochi, July 18 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today stayed further proceedings in the theft case against Leela Hotels Company Executive Chairman Captain Krishan Nair pending before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Neyyattinkara, Thiruvananthapuram. The Kovalam police registered the case alleging that the petitioner and the horticulture officer of the Kovalam Hotels Ltd had stolen six coconut trees from the Kovalam Palace compound.
The petitioner submitted that the coconut trees in question were standing in disputed property which was the subject matter of the Kovalam Palace Takeover Act.
The writ petition challenging the Act is pending before the High Court and it is only to pressurise the petitioner not to proceed with the matter frivolous crime was registered on the complaint of the Thiruvananthapuram District Collector, he maintained.
