Half of the prestigious road ready, work in full swing in J
Srinagar, July 18 (UNI) The work on 83.90 km prestigious Mughal Road project, connecting Poonch and Doda with the Kashmir valley, is going on full swing.
The 20 km of the road out of 44 km from Bufliaz have been made motorable while 35 kms road from the Shopian side is targeted to be made motorable by end of this year, said Minister of State for Roads and Buildings Gulchain Singh Charak.
The Minister said the work of double laning of Mughal Road upto 15 kms is in progress and is targeted to be completed by the year-end.
The work on the project was started in March 2006 after defence ministry gave its approval as it passes close to border at some places.
Chief Engineer Mughal Road F A Shanthoo apprised the Minister that the length of road from Peer-ki-Gali to Shopian is 40 km, out of which around 26 km pass through Wildlife Sanctuary. On Shopian side upgradatioon and widening is targeted to be completed during current year.
