Fake notes seized, three arrested

Chennai, Jul 18: Police have arrested three persons, including a village Panchayat President on the charge of circulating fake currencies of Rs 100 denomination at suburban Uthukkottai.

According to police, one Sundar went to a petrol bunk yesterday.

After fillng the petrol in the two-wheeler, he gave Rs 100 to a bunk employee. Suspecting the currency to be fake, they informed the police, who rushed there and arrested Sundar.

Based on his information, police arrested Nagaraj, President of Perandur village panchayat and his associate Manohar.

Police seized counterfeit currency to the tune of Rs 18,000 from them.
