English summer starts for Indian colts
London, July 18 (UNI) India under-19 team kicks off its England tour taking on the hosts in first of the three one-day series at Derby later today.
The remaining two games takes place under floodlights with the three-Test series beginning in Canterbury next week.
Meanwhile, new England Under-19 coach Andy Moles has urged his players to use the summer series against India as a platform to showcase their talent.
With only a handful of players -- notably, skipper Varun Chopra of Essex -- boasting first-class experience, Moles is hoping the opportunity to play on a grander stage would serve as a major incentive for his young charges.
''The aim for most of these guys is to play regularly for their counties, or to get in the England Academy,'' Moles said.
The hosts also look forward to avenging the humiliating 234-run drubbing at the hands of Indians in the Under-19 World Cup this year.
''They were beaten by India in the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year, so they've been looking forward to making amends for that,'' Moles said referring to the defeat when England were bowled out for just 58.
