Director of school held for sexual abuse

Rajkot, July 18 (UNI) Director of a Sarvodaya School of Jasdan town of this district has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a student.

Acting on a complaint by 12-year-old class seventh student, the police yesterday arrested the accused - Babubhai Becharbhai Sardhara (59) and registered a case under section 354 and 509 of the IPC.

Police Inspector of Jasdan town R D Ulva told UNI over phone that the accused was being produced before the local court today.

The girl in her complaint stated that the Director had molested her in the school on 13th of this month.

After the incident the girl refused to go to school as she was frightened. Later she revealed the incident to her parents and also filed a complaint to the police.

The accused was also Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary of the town, police said.
