Custodial death: Police Inspector suspended

Kozhikode, July 18 (UNI) A police Inspector was suspended for his alleged involvement in the death of a person in police custody in the city.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police V Shantaram ordered the suspension of Panniyankara police Sub Inspector M D Sunil in connection with the death of 53-year-old Razzak, who was taken into custody in a mobile phone theft case.

According to police, Razzak, a resident of Perumanna in the district, who collapsed after interrogation, was rushed to the Beach Hospital for treatment.

However, doctors said the victim was brought dead and the exact cause of the death could be known after conducting the autospy.
