Congress demands MP govt's dismissal
Bhopal, July 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has submitted a memorandum to President A P J Abdul Kalam demanding immediate dismissal of the BJP Government in view of alleged political instability, water and power crisis, deteriorating law and order situation and the government's failure to fulfil the BJP's election promises.
A Congress delegation, led by MPCC President Subhash Yadav submitted the memorandum to Dr Kalam at the Raja Bhoj airport yesterday.
Besides Mr Yadav, the delegation included Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh, Leader of Opposition in state assembly Jamuna Devi, Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Hazarilal Raghuvanshi, Mayor Sunil Sood and other office bearers.
In a statement here, Mr Yadav stated in the memorandum that political instability in the state has increased due to Mr Chouhan contesting Budhni assembly bypoll while holding office of profit and the Election Commission taking cognizance of the violation of the model code of conduct. This has led to unbridled corruption in bureaucracy.
Accusing the government of spreading false propaganda regarding the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Mr Yadav said besides doling out benefits under the scheme to unfit candidates, several works were given to contractors and tasks were carried out on machines.
He alleged that the government was misusing the funds provided by the Centre for various schemes.
The Congress leader pointed out that the BJP Government could not tide over the power crisis in the past two-and-half years despite getting more than 1,000 MW of additional power from the Indira Sagar, Manikheda and Bansaagar projects completed by the previous Congress regime.
He accused the state government of saffronising government services and education besides rise in corruption and prices due to its policies.
Mr Yadav the government was ignoring the plight of farmers and was promoting middlemen and businessmen.
