BJP urges Kalam to restore POTA
Shillong, July 18: The BJP in Meghalaya has urged President APJ Abdul Kalam to direct the Congress led UPA government at the Centre to restore POTA and fight terrorism.
In a memorandum submitted to state Governor MM Jacob, addressed to the Presdent yesterday, the BJP while protesting the serial blasts in Mumbai and Jammu and Kashmir also demanded restoration of POTA in the interest of the national security and sovereignty.
Criticising the alleged soft-attitude of the UPA government towards terrorist groups and the SIMI, the party said the government should take stringent action against those involved in the terror attacks.
The BJP also demanded the dismantling of the existing terrorist camps in Pakistan to ensure lasting peace in South Asia.
The party also expressed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
