BJP condemns proposal of Muslim state in India
New Delhi, Jul 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party today strongly condemned UP Minister Azam Khan's proposal for a separate state for Muslims within the country.
Talking to newspersons, BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said it was another effort to divide the nation. Mr Khan is a minister in the Mulayam Singh Government in Uttar Pradesh and the Chief Minister must clarify whether he endorsed the statement.
The 1947 partition is a closed chapter. Now Pakistan is a sovereign state. It is suprising that in India, a political party is talking about a Muslim state. The BJP will thwart all such efforts.
"We condemn religion based politics," he added.
