Bengal express solidarity with Mumbai, Srinagar blast victims
Kolkata, July 18 (UNI) Thousands of Kolkatans today joined the rest of the nation in paying homage to the victims of 7/11 Mumbai and Srinagar serial bomb blasts.
Thousands of people, including women and children belonging to all walks of life, assembled in front of the famous Victoria Memorial and along the Ganges on Strand road this evening.
Carrying anti-terrorism placards, people were seen lighting candles to express solidarity with the blast victims.
On the Strand road, people formed a 1.5 km long human chain, stretching from Outram ghat to the Millennium Park.
In both places people also observed a two-minute silence in memory of the blast victims.
Incidentally, apart from over 200 people killed in the multiple train blasts, at least eight tourists including seven from Kolkata had lost their lives in serial granade attacks in Srinagar the same day.
