Bangladeshi killed in BSF firing
Basirhat, July 18 (UNI) A Bangladeshi national was killed in BSF firing at Tarali under Swarupnagar police station in North 24 Parganas early today.
Sources said the victim was a cattle smuggler.
According to BSF, the smuggler was crossing the border with cows when BSF opened fire after making an abortive attempt to prevent him from crossing the border.
Meanwhile, a body of a young Bangladeshi national was found near the international border with Bangladesh at Panitar near Ghojadanga corridor under Basirhat police station in North 24 Parganas.
Police said the body was found with multiple injuries and have been sent for post mortem.
Some local people at Ghojadanga involved in border trading alleged that the victim along with two Bangladshi women were returning home in Bangladesh through Panitar. Both the women, however, managed to cross the border.
Police said the autopsy report can only determine the nature of crime.
