YFE to strike if quota bill tabled in Parliament

New Delhi, July 17: The Youth for Equality (YFE), which was spearheading the anti-quota agitation, today threatened to launch a nation-wide strike in educational institutions if the Government introduced the Reservation Bill in Parliament.

''If the government tables the bill in Parliament in the monsoon or the next session we will launch a strike in educational institutions across the country after a 24 hour notice period,'' Youth For Equality leader and AIIMS RDA president Binod Patra told UNI.

On July 23, a day ahead of the commencement of the monsoon session of Parliament, the YFE will taken out a silent march here in protest against OBC reservation.

Dr Patra said the agitation against OBC reservation in elite educational institutes will continue.

He said the YFE national executive, held here on July 15 and 16, had taken the decision about the nation-wide strike after consultations with all state units.

''Whenever the bill is tabled we will oppose it,'' he said.

All Medical Colleges of Delhi, IITs, IIMs, the Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Indraprastha University and other medical and engineering colleges across the country will join the stir, he added.
