UP govt announces festivals and melas for 2006-08
Lucknow, July 17 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government have announced the dates of important festivals and Mahatsov to be held in the state during 2006-08, which includes the most religious Ardh Kumbh Mela at Allahabad.
While the Ardh Kumbh mela at Allahabad would be held between January 3 to Februrary 26, 2007, the international fame Taj Mahatsov at Agra would be held from February 18 to 27 in both 2007 and 2008.
According to the principal secretary (tourism) Om Prakash altogether 17 festivals and Mahatsov would be organised by the department during 2006-08.
He said Lucknow Mahatsov would be held between November 25 to December 5 in 2006 and 2007 while Ganga Mahatsov would be held at Varanasi from November 2 to 5 in 2006 and from November 21 to 24 in 2007.
The state tourism department will also organise Yoga festivals from Februrary 2 to 7 in 2007 and 2008 at Allahabad while in Varanasi from February 22 to 28 in 2007 and 2008.
In 2007 and 2008, the department will also hold a 'kabab mahatsov' in the state capital from April 1 to 3.
