Unemployed youths create ruckus at Collectorate, 20 arrested

Nagpur, July 17 (UNI) Sadar police today arrested about 20 candidates in connection with creating ruckus at the Collectorate after appearing for the written examination for the post of 'Arogya Sewaks' conducted by the Zilla Parishad at different centres here.

The police said since results of the examination were to be declared at the Collectorate, over 250 candidates assembled there to see the list of the successful candidates at about 1700 hrs yesterday. However, the health authorities failed to display the list even after 2000 hrs. The office of the Collectorate was closed yesterday and Chairperson of the examination Sanjay Mukherjee, who is the collector of Nagpur, was not present in the office.

Enraged over non-announcement of the results, the candidates lost their temper and started creating noisy unruly scenes in the premises, while some of them indulged in damaging the Government properties, police said.

Police took action against the agitating candidates.

Further investigation was in progress.
