Two ATTF militants shot dead in ambush
Agartala, July 17 (UNI) In another successful offensive against the undergrounds security forces shot dead two All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) rebels late last night in Tripura's west district at Sidhai.
Police said today acting on a tip-off that a gang of armed ATTF militants had taken refuge in a remote village near the Bangladesh border about 60 km from here, a police party led by West district Superintendent police laid an ambush.
Sensing the police presence, the underground ATTF started firing at about 2230 hrs which was retaliated. The militants stopped firing and fled the away from the site under the cover of the darkness.
Later on search, police recovered two bodies, identified as Arun Debbarma and Binoy Debbarma, and recovered a grenade, a revolver, some incriminating documents and CD from the spot.
Security forces launched a massive search operation to nab the fleeing gang and kept a strong vigil so that they could not cross over to Bangladesh.
