Take agricultural research to fields: K'taka Governor
Dharwad, Karnataka, July 17 (UNI) Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi today stressed the need for efforts to take research in agriculture to the fields and strengthening the hands of farmers.
He was speaking after unveiling a bronze statue of late Dr S W Menasinkai, the Founder of the agriculture college here, now a full fledged university, and inaugurating the Dr S W Menasinkai Education and Research Foundation.
The Governor expressed happiness over the initiative taken by the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) in paying tributes to Dr Menasinkai and hoped that the statue as well as the Foundation met the aspirations of Dr Menasinkai, the role model of students.
Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur, who also spoke on the occasion, announced an assistance of Rs 50 lakh from the Government side to the Foundation and wished it all success.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti, who also spoke, lauded the efforts of Dr Menasinkai.
