Special Court extends remands till July 25

Mumbai, July 17 (UNI) A special MCOCA court today extended till July 25 the judicial custody of 16 suspects terrorists who were arrested from Aurangabad, Nanded and Nashik area in May-June this year in the Aurangabad arms and explosive seizure case.

The Accused were produced before MCOCA (Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act) Judge Abhay Thipsay in Mazgaon court amid tight security bandobast as Judge Mridula Bhatkar, before whom case is going on, was on leave today.

Judge Thipsay extended their judicial custody till July 25.

The Accused include Amer Shakeel, Sayyad Zuber, Mohammed Muzaffar Tanvar, Khatib Ahmed, Shaikh Vikar, Abdul Azeem Sheikh, Samad Khan, Rafiq Sheikh and others.

Samad is suspected to have gone to Bangladesh prior to his arrest, where he met Jaibuddin Ansari, the prime absconding accused in the case.

Jaibuddin, who is suspected to be the brain behind transport of the huge arms and an explosives cache, later seized by police, had reportedly offered Samad to return back to India along with a huge quantity of money for the LeT operations here.

ATS seized 16 AK-47 rifles and 43 kgs RDX in Aurangabad, Manmad and adjoining areas in May this year. The arms and explosives were being transported to some safe place before they were to be used for subversive acts.
