Soren ordered to appear in Chirudih case
Jamtara, Jharkhand, Jul 17 (UNI) A local court today ordered Union Coal Minister Shibu Soren to appear before it in person on August 3 in connection with the three-decade-old Chirudih massacre case.
Additional district and sessions judge Arun Kumar hearing the case related to the murder of eleven people in Chirudih village on January, 23, 1975, ordered Mr Soren, the main accused in the case, to appear before the court in person on August 3.
Mr Soren, however, was not present in the court today and the order was served to his counsel.
Earlier, during his argument, the public prosecutor informed the court that Mr Soren had not appeared in the court in person since his reappointment as Coal Minister.
Mr Soren was compelled to resign from the Union Cabinet around one and a half years ago, when the court had issued arrest warrant against him in this case. He was then arrested and later released on bail by Jharkhand high court.
