Small hydel projects in Himachal to be executed by locals: CM

Shimla, July 17 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh government has decided that all small hydel projects of one to five MW would be executed by the people of the state.

These project have been exclusively reserved for allocation to the people of the state, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said while addressing a public gathering in the tribal district of Kinnaur yesterday.

This decision would ensure that Himachalis become partners in hydel generation in the state, he added. He said that this step would incorporate the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst the local youth and provide them employment and self-employment opportunities.
