Security enhanced in border districts of Gujarat

Surat, July 17 (UNI) In the backdrop of the serial blasts in Mumbai last week, Gujarat police have beefed up surveillance at three border districts of Valsad, Navasari and Dangs, sources said.

Most of the railway stations, small hotels and guest houses are under the police scanner and surprise checks are conducted at these places.

Police sources said, most of the criminals operating in Maharashtra use the south Gujarat border districts as a safe haeven.

''Proximity of these bordering districts is convenient to many criminals and we think that it is better to keep some vigil,'' a senior police official in Navasari district said.
