Security beefed up following naxal attacks
Visakhapatnam, July 17 (UNI) Security has been beefed up in the wake of naxal attack and kidnapping of tribals in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, District Superintendent of Police G J Murali said here today.
He said an alert was sounded in Anantagiri, Chintapalli, G Madugula, G K Veedhi, Hukumpeta, Koyyuru, Paderu and Pedabayaluin mandals of Andhra Pradesh.
Additional forces were already despatched to agency areas, which were prone to maoist violence.
The vigil has been increased in these areas keeping in view the martyrs' week to be observed by the maoists from July 28.
Maoist East Division Committee covering Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts had already called for a boycott of panchayat elections.
Mr Murali said special police parties were closely monitoring the maoist activities along important routes through which election materials and staff would commute for the elections.
