Saurav Sanyal bags HP journalism award
Shimla, July 17 (UNI) Saurav Sanyal of the Indian Express has bagged the National-level award, while Divya Himachal bureau chief Vijay Puri and Shashikant Sharma of Dainik Tribune have been conferred with the state-level awards for HP Developmental Journalism, officials here said today.
Chanchal Pal Chauhan of the Hindustan Times and Kuldeep Chauhan have been awarded the district-level awards for their stories ''Kyrai leads way in rural development'' and ''Rural Woman breaking shackles of poverty''.
The spokesman said while Mr Chanchal Chauhan was been conferred the award for 2003, Mr Kuldeep Chauhan was been honoured for 2004 with cash reward of Rs 15,000 each.
The spokesman said Mr Sanyal was honoured with a cash prize of Rs 25,000 for his story ''where rain water washes away caste divides''.
Mr Sharma and Mr Puri were honoured with a cash reward of Rs 20,000 each for their stories ''Logon ke mehanat ne badla hai dharti-asman'' and ''bhagyarekha sabit ho rahi hai watershed pariyojna'' respectively for 2003 and 2004, the spokesman added.
